Somin was sitting at the dining table and picked up a little box that had been left there by mum after making samosas for Holi. "What is this?" he asked. Garam masala, I replied. "He chha jaam garam hundo aa? (Is this very hot then)?"
The laughter had barely died down when referring to a newly-put up picture of mom and dad in their room, I said, "Now your room looks like a room." "Ae, room ta room hi hoondo aa," piped up Somin.

Little Ranvir was being asked to switch off the light by his tired father who wanted to sleep. Repeated pleas fell on deaf ears. Or not. He finally said, "Why don't you just shut your eyes to shut out the light!"
